Meet Daisy
Daisy, our bravest little dental assistant
Daisy is our cuddly giraffe with a very big smile, and she’s a favourite with our youngest patients. Before we look at your child’s teeth, we count Daisy’s together, and by the time we’ve finished, most children can’t wait to have their own teeth counted too.
She helps children practise brushing, gives the best waiting-room hugs and reminds everyone that there’s nothing scary about the dentist.

Treatments
Children’s treatments we offer
Check-ups
A gentle look at your child’s teeth, gums and how their teeth are coming through, with plenty of praise along the way.
Fluoride varnish
A quick, painless coat of fluoride painted onto the teeth, which helps strengthen them and prevent decay.
Fissure sealants
A thin protective coating over the grooves of the back teeth, where food and bacteria are most likely to cause decay.
Fillings and extractions
If your child needs treatment, we explain everything to them and to you first, and take things gently and at their pace.
Sports mouthguards
Custom-made mouthguards for rugby, hockey, boxing and other contact sports, made to fit your child’s teeth.
Invisalign for children and teens
Invisalign First, Invisalign Teen and the Invisalign Palatal Expander: clear, removable alternatives to metal braces, available privately.
Invisalign for children →The first visit
Your child’s first visit
Meet Daisy
We keep the first visit relaxed and fun. Your child meets our team and Daisy the giraffe, and sees that the dentist is nothing to worry about.
Count the teeth
We count Daisy’s teeth together first, then it’s your child’s turn: a gentle check of their teeth and gums, only as much as they’re happy with.
Tips for home
We show you both how to brush, how much toothpaste to use and which foods and drinks to watch.
Next time
We’ll suggest when to come back, usually in six to twelve months.
At home
Healthy habits for healthy teeth
Brush twice a day
Last thing at night and one other time, for about two minutes. Help your child brush until they’re around seven.
The right toothpaste
A smear of fluoride toothpaste for under-threes, and a pea-sized amount from three to six. Ask us which strength to use.
Spit, don’t rinse
After brushing, spit out the toothpaste but don’t rinse, so the fluoride keeps protecting the teeth.
Sugar at mealtimes
Keep sweet foods and drinks to mealtimes, and give water or milk between meals.
Nervous children
A calm, gentle dentist for anxious children
Some children feel worried about the dentist, especially if they’ve had a difficult visit before. We never rush: we explain each step in a way they understand, and stop whenever they need a break.
Dr Lia is well known for putting anxious patients at ease, and many parents tell us their child now looks forward to coming back.
