e.max porcelain
Why we use e.max
e.max is a high-strength glass ceramic (lithium disilicate) that lets light pass through it in the same way your natural enamel does, so your veneers catch the light like real teeth rather than looking flat or opaque.
It’s strong and chip-resistant even when very thin, it resists staining from coffee, tea and red wine, and it bonds securely to your natural enamel. And its smooth, glazed surface is kind to your gums and easy to keep clean.
Our laboratory
Handcrafted by Corus Tusk in Marylebone
Your veneers are made by Corus Tusk, a Marylebone laboratory renowned for cosmetic and restorative work, founded by Bryan Matthews and now part of Corus, a group of more than 75 leading dental laboratories across Europe.
Their ceramists build and characterise every veneer by hand to match your smile design, so the shape, translucency and shade look like you, only better.
Minimal preparation
“Contact lens” veneers: protecting your natural teeth
The less of your own tooth we remove, the better. Wherever we can, we use minimal-prep veneers.
As thin as a contact lens
e.max can be made remarkably thin, around 0.3mm, so it adds shape and brightness without bulk.
Enamel preserved
Preparation is usually just a fraction of a millimetre, kept within your enamel, and sometimes no preparation is needed at all.
A stronger bond
Veneers bond most strongly to enamel, so keeping it isn’t only kinder to your teeth: it helps your veneers last.
Your treatment
Your veneer journey
For four or more veneers, this is how we plan and create your new smile. For smaller cases, the steps are simpler, and we’ll talk you through them.
Consultation
We start at a check-up or a smile makeover consultation (£50, put towards your treatment), with photos and, where needed, a 3D scan of your teeth.
Digital smile design
We design your new smile digitally, so you can see how it will look and approve it before anything is done to your teeth.
Preparation and temporaries
We gently prepare your teeth and fit temporary veneers, made from a silicone guide of your approved design. We can adjust them on the day, then scan any changes and send them to the lab, so your final veneers are exactly right.
Your review
A few days later, we see you again to check how you’re getting on with your new smile and make any further adjustments.
Fitting
Your finished veneers are bonded in place, usually about two weeks after your preparation. If you need them sooner, faster turnaround is available for an additional fee.
Veneers or bonding?
Porcelain veneers and composite bonding compared
| Feature | Porcelain veneers (e.max) | Composite bonding and composite veneers |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Thin porcelain shells, handcrafted in a laboratory | Tooth-coloured resin shaped directly onto your teeth |
| Visits | Several, over about two weeks | Often one |
| Preparation | Minimal, often enamel only | Usually minimal |
| Staining | Highly stain-resistant | Can pick up stains, so needs occasional polishing |
| Lifespan | Often 10 to 15 years or more | Typically around 5 to 7 years |
| Repairs | Replaced if damaged | Easily repaired or refreshed |
| Cost | From £1,095 per tooth | From £339 (bonding) or £395 (composite veneers) per tooth |
Both can give beautiful results. Your dentist will recommend what suits your teeth and goals: see composite bonding.
Veneer myths
What veneers are really like
“Veneers are Turkey teeth”
What people call “Turkey teeth” are usually full crowns on every tooth, for which healthy teeth are filed down to small stumps. Porcelain veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of your teeth, with as little preparation as possible.
“They’re blindingly white”
You choose your shade with your dentist, from beautifully natural to brighter, matched to your skin tone and the rest of your teeth.
“Your teeth are ground down to nubs”
With minimal-prep veneers, preparation is usually a fraction of a millimetre of enamel, and sometimes none at all.
“They look fake and bulky”
e.max is thin and translucent, and every veneer is handcrafted to suit your face, so people notice a great smile, not veneers.
“They fall off”
e.max bonded to enamel is very strong. With good care and regular check-ups, veneers can last for many years.
“They stain like teeth”
Porcelain is highly stain-resistant, so your veneers stay bright even if you love coffee, tea or red wine.

Questions
Porcelain veneer FAQs
How much do porcelain veneers cost?
Our e.max porcelain veneers are from £1,095 per tooth, or from £91.25 a month with 0% finance. PearlyPlan members save 5%.
How long do porcelain veneers last?
Often 10 to 15 years or more, with good care, regular check-ups and hygiene visits.
Will my teeth be ground down?
No. We use minimal-prep veneers wherever possible: preparation is usually a fraction of a millimetre of enamel, and sometimes none. Any preparation is permanent, so we plan it carefully and explain it first.
What are “contact lens” veneers?
Very thin porcelain veneers, around 0.3mm, that need little or no preparation of your natural teeth.
Will my veneers look natural?
Yes. You choose the shade with your dentist, and each veneer is handcrafted by Corus Tusk to suit your face, with the translucency of natural enamel.
Are veneers the same as “Turkey teeth”?
No. “Turkey teeth” are usually full crowns, which need healthy teeth to be filed down heavily. Veneers are thin shells on the front of your teeth, with minimal preparation.
How long does treatment take?
About two weeks from preparing your teeth to fitting your veneers, with faster turnaround available for an additional fee. You’ll wear temporary veneers in between.
What if I don’t like my temporary veneers?
Tell us. We can adjust them on the day, and we’ll see you a few days later to make any further changes. We scan your temporaries and send the details to the lab, so your final veneers are just right.
Should I whiten my teeth first?
Often, yes. Veneers are matched to your other teeth and don’t change colour, so if you’d like a brighter smile we usually whiten first.
Porcelain veneers or composite bonding?
Porcelain lasts longer and resists staining; composite is quicker, needs very little preparation and costs less. We’ll help you choose what suits your teeth and goals.
How do I look after veneers?
Brush and floss as normal, and keep up your check-ups and hygiene visits. If you grind your teeth, we may recommend a night guard to protect them.
