Minimally invasive dentistry
Early decay, treated without a drill
Tooth decay starts long before there’s a hole. Acids first draw minerals out of the enamel, leaving a weakened patch, often seen as a chalky white spot. Traditionally, the choice was to watch and wait, hoping fluoride would help, or to drill and fill once it got worse.
Curodont Repair gives us a better option. It helps the weakened enamel rebuild itself, so the decay can be stopped in its tracks and your tooth stays whole, with no drilling and nothing to numb.

How it works
Helping your enamel rebuild itself
Curodont Repair is based on a peptide that mimics the proteins your body uses to build enamel in the first place, an approach known as biomimetic dentistry.
1. It seeps in
Applied as a liquid, the peptide flows deep into the tiny pores of the weakened enamel.
2. It builds a scaffold
Inside the tooth, it assembles itself into a 3D framework, like a honeycomb.
3. Your enamel rebuilds
The framework draws calcium and phosphate from your saliva, and new enamel crystals form from the inside out.
Who it’s for
Is Curodont right for me?
Early decay
Weakened enamel and white spots that haven’t yet become a cavity. Once there’s a hole, a filling is usually needed.
Fillings →Front and back teeth
On the chewing surfaces of back teeth, and on the smooth surfaces of front and back teeth.
Between teeth
Early decay between teeth, which we can spot on X-rays long before it can be seen or felt.
Children
No drill and no needle make it ideal for children with early decay. For children, Curodont is available privately.
Nervous patients
Painless and quick, with nothing to numb, so it’s a gentle way to deal with early decay.
Keeping your natural tooth
Every filling means removing some tooth, and fillings eventually need replacing. Treating decay early can avoid starting that cycle.
Catching decay early
Why your check-up matters
Curodont works best on decay caught early, so it goes hand in hand with our check-ups. Our AI X-ray analysis (powered by Overjet) helps us spot early decay, including between the teeth, and our intra-oral photos let you see exactly what we see.
When we find early decay, we’ll show you, explain your options and, if Curodont is suitable, treat it. We then keep an eye on the tooth at your check-ups to make sure it has stayed healthy.
The story behind Curodont
From a Leeds laboratory to a million teeth
The science behind Curodont began in Britain, at the University of Leeds, where scientists developed and patented a self-assembling peptide, P11-4, that could help enamel regrow.
It was brought to dentists by vVARDIS, a Swiss company founded by two sisters, Dr Haleh and Dr Golnar Abivardi, both dentists. Having already built one of Switzerland’s best-known groups of dental clinics, they set out to change how tooth decay is treated: healing it instead of drilling it away.
Their mission has taken off. In the United States alone, more than a million teeth have been treated with Curodont since 2024, and nearly 1 in 10 dental practices there now offer it. In the UK it’s still new, and we’re proud to be one of a small number of practices offering it.

What happens during Curodont treatment
Diagnosis
We confirm the decay is at an early stage with an examination, photos and X-rays, and explain your options.
Cleaning
We clean the tooth surface thoroughly and prepare it, so the peptide can get into the weakened enamel.
Application
We apply Curodont Repair and let it soak in for a few minutes. There’s no drilling and nothing to numb.
Afterwards
You can eat and drink as normal. Over the following weeks and months, the enamel rebuilds from within.
Monitoring
We check the tooth at your check-ups, with photos and X-rays, to make sure the decay has stopped.

Questions
Curodont Repair FAQs
What is Curodont Repair?
A treatment for early tooth decay that helps the enamel rebuild itself, with no drilling, no injection and no filling. It’s made by vVARDIS, a Swiss company, using a peptide first developed at the University of Leeds.
How does it work?
The peptide soaks into the weakened enamel and assembles itself into a scaffold, which draws calcium and phosphate from your saliva so new enamel crystals form from the inside out.
Does it hurt?
No. There’s no drilling and no injection. We simply clean the tooth and apply the liquid.
How much does Curodont cost?
£175 for the first tooth and £125 for each additional tooth. PearlyPlan members save 10%.
Can it treat decay between my teeth?
Yes. Early decay between the teeth, which we find on X-rays, can be treated, as well as decay on the front and back teeth.
Can children have Curodont?
Yes. With no drill or needle, it’s ideal for children with early decay. For children, Curodont is available privately.
Does it work on a cavity?
Curodont is for early decay, before a cavity forms. If there’s already a hole in the tooth, a filling is usually needed.
Is there evidence it works?
Yes. Curodont has been studied in clinical trials, including in children, where early decay treated with it improved more than with fluoride varnish alone. More than a million teeth have been treated with it in the US alone.
Can I eat afterwards?
Yes, you can eat and drink as normal after your appointment.
Why don’t all dentists offer it?
It’s still new in the UK, and only a small number of practices offer it so far. We offer it because it lets us treat decay while keeping your tooth whole.
