Why so many adults choose Invisalign
It’s rarely one big moment. More often it’s noticing crowding in photos, seeing yourself on a video call, or realising your front teeth have moved since you stopped wearing a retainer years ago.
Invisalign straightens teeth with a series of clear, removable aligners, each made for your teeth and worn for a week or two before you move on to the next. There are no brackets or wires, the aligners are hard to spot, and you take them out to eat, so there are no foods to avoid.
That’s why it suits busy adults so well: you can take them out for an important meeting or a wedding, and your appointments are short and infrequent.

Adult treatment includes whitening gels, so you can brighten your smile towards the end, and your first Essix retainers, which keep your teeth in their new position.
You can spread the cost with 0% finance over 12 months, or save 5% as a PearlyPlan member. You can use one or the other on your treatment, but not both.
What affects the price?
The range reflects how much work your teeth need. At your consultation, Dr Lia will give you a fixed price for your own treatment. It mainly depends on:
- How much your teeth need to move: a little crowding at the front is quicker and simpler than aligning the whole smile.
- Your bite: correcting an overbite, underbite or crossbite takes more planning and more aligners.
- One arch or both: sometimes only the top or bottom teeth need straightening.
Be wary of any price quoted before someone has examined your teeth. Two smiles that look similar can need very different treatment.

Most people finish in 6 to 18 months. Simple cases can take as little as 4 to 6 months, and more complex ones up to 24 months. You’ll get a realistic timeframe for your own teeth at your consultation.

Towards the end, Dr Lia fine-tunes the result with extra aligners if needed. We see you every 6 to 8 weeks for a quick check of around 15 minutes, and we open from 8am, with evening appointments until 8pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The one rule: wear them
Aligners only work while they’re in. You wear them for 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out to eat, to drink anything other than water, and to brush. If they spend long lunches and evenings out in their case, treatment takes longer and the result suffers.
Our advice
Keep your aligner case with you, and put your aligners straight back in after eating. The patients who get the best results are the ones who wear them as prescribed.
Invisalign or fixed braces?
For most adults, Invisalign is the easier option to live with:
- Discreet: most people won’t notice you’re wearing them.
- Removable: no food restrictions, and brushing and flossing are as normal.
- Comfortable: smooth plastic, with no wires or brackets to rub.
- Fewer surprises: no broken brackets or loose wires.
Fixed braces can still be the better choice for some complex tooth movements, or if you know you won’t wear aligners for 22 hours a day. If braces would give you a better result, Dr Lia will tell you.
So, is Invisalign worth it?
For most people who commit to wearing their aligners, yes. Straighter teeth are easier to clean, and they’re often the best foundation for any cosmetic work: with your teeth in the right place, composite bonding or veneers usually need less preparation, on fewer teeth.
